Democracia is a work group created in 2006 by Iván López and Pablo España. The decision to work as a group was a result of the intention to engage in an artistic practice centred on the debate and clash of ideas and forms of action. The very fact of working in a group establishes an interest for creating interventions on the social aspects, through approaches that are committed to the reality.
The projects address the issue of progressive staging with respect to coexistence that can be clearly seen not only in the ever-growing importance of the image, but also in the gradual incorporation of deceit into various aspects of daily life, such as politics, technology and the culture. Democracia also engages in publishing and curation, and is presenting two of its video projects as part of Cáceres Abierto: Welfare Stateand Ser y Durar (To Be and To Last),which will be screened at the Provincial Historical Archivefrom June 1 to June 25.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday 11:00–14:00. Additionally, on June 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 & 25 from 18:00–21:00.
